Village Brochure: Do’s and Don’ts of Garbage & Recycling
DO Set out containers at curb by 7 AM but no more than 24 hrs. before pickup day & remove 24 hrs. after pickup.
DO Limit to 3 containers per dwelling unit.
DO Use cans with a tight-fitting lid.
DO Set out up to three pieces of household furniture with regular garbage.
DO Cut carpets into 6x6 foot pieces, roll them and place them neatly at the curb.
DO Replace leaking or defective containers.
DON’T Use cans larger than 35 gallons
DON’T Exceed the 50 lb. limit per can
DON’T Place garbage in paper bags or Cardboard boxes.
DON’T Place electronics such as TV’s, computers, monitors and printers.
DON’T Place deceased domestic animals for collection.
DON’T Mix garbage with yard waste.
DON’T Include items that are not the product of the ordinary conduct of households such as yard waste, stones, items from demolition or remodeling, concrete
DON’T Include tires or automotive parts
DO’S & DON’TS for RECYCLING
DO Set out containers at curb by 7 AM but no more than 24 hrs. before pickup day & removed 24 hrs. after pickup.
DO Use recycling containers provided for designated recyclable materials only.
DO Recycle unbroken glass, plastic bottles jugs and containers, food cans and paper products (food, beverage, detergent, & shampoo containers).
DO Rinse glass, cans and plastic items.
DO Flatten cardboard and bundle no larger than 36” x 36” x 18”.
DO Include single layer cardboard that is gray or brown.
DON’T Include plastic bags, Styrofoam, unmarked plastic.
DON’T Include wax coated cardboard boxes.
DON’T Include windows, Pyrex, ceramics, light bulbs, mirrors, cookware, household dishes and glassware.
DON’T Include metal or plastic pipes.
DON’T Include spray cans, pesticide cans or paint cans.
DON’T Include auto fluids and containers.
DON’T Include medical waste and household hazardous waste.
DON’T Include batteries of any kind. DON’T Include vehicular tires.
When in doubt … throw it out.
