Endicott Water Pollution Control Plant

The Village of Endicott Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) serves approximately 50,000 users across the Village of Endicott, parts of the Town of Union, and parts of the Town of Vestal. The plant has an extensive 160-mile-long collection system that connects these communities to the facility.

The facility has a design capacity of 10 million gallons per day (MGD) and currently processes an average of 7.7 MGD. Effluent from the WPCP is discharged into the Susquehanna River, contributing to the Chesapeake Bay watershed, which necessitates rigorous monitoring and advanced nutrient removal to meet strict environmental standards.

One of the facility’s standout programs is its biosolids recycling initiative. The WPCP treats and repurposes biosolids through anaerobic digestion and thermal drying, producing a high-quality soil amendment product. Additionally, the facility accepts leaves and yard waste from Endicott and Union during the fall, composting the material for distribution free of charge to the public in the spring and summer.
