Covid-19 Update: "Yellow Zone" Information
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says the start of new “Yellow Zone” restrictions will begin Friday, October 9, 2020; for a period of 14 days. New York State is implementing a strategy to address new clusters of Covid-19 cases.
Broome County has been placed in a precautionary Yellow Zone as the county has been experiencing a record increase in new Covid-19 cases. The major portion of that Yellow Zone includes Binghamton, Endicott., and Johnson City.
Garnar stressed it is imperative that people stay home whenever possible over the 14 day period to limit contact with groups of people, flatten the curve, and bring community spread of the virus under control.
While businesses remain open, the restrictions include limiting non-essential gatherings to 25 people maximum for indoor or outdoor settings and no more than 4 people seated at a table at dining establishments.
Also, Rapid Testing for people experiencing symptoms is available at St. Patrick’s Church on Leroy Street in Binghamton October 12 - 16, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Call 2-1-1 to register.
