SNOW REMOVAL COMMAND CENTER

Since the unprecedented snowfall of 40 + inches, Wednesday into Thursday,  the Village of Endicott has been working to address concerns and street access throughout the Village.

A Command Center is active at the Police Department. As of early this morning, police have assessed all streets in the Village to help determine how to prioritize plowing. The main factors in that determination include emergency vehicle access, medical facility access, and safety. That includes how to get fire, medical, and police personnel access to an emergency.

Village crews are working off that list as plowing continues.

"We understand everyone's frustration. We have to look at the entire Village and prioritize public health and safety. We are working on getting to everyone as quickly as possible," said Police Chief Patrick Garey. “We hope residents understand that if it took them 3 or 4 times longer to clear their own driveway or sidewalk compared to past winter storms, the Village is facing the same situation to clear the roads,” said Garey.

"We are working on clearing roads as quickly as possible, and all Village and outside resources that are available are being utilized." said Village Manager Anthony Bates. "We are working with the New York State DOT, Broome County Emergency Operations Center, and National Guard. We are in contact with Governor’s office and have been offered any assistance we need," Bates said.

NYSDOT crews are helping to free up snowplows that were stuck on Skye Island Drive. Those plows will be mobilized this afternoon to add to the round the clock efforts to plow all streets and then continue the snow cleanup for the next several days.

To aid in this effort, people must move vehicles off the street as soon as possible. Vehicles that could be moved but aren't will be towed.

Residents who have an emergency may call the Command Center at 607-757-5366. Please call only for immediate concerns and not general questions.
