Village of Endicott Launches “Saluting Our Hometown Heroes” Banner Program
The Village of Endicott, in proud partnership with VFW Post 1449, American Legion Posts 82 and 1700, and Illuminations Holiday Lighting, is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Saluting Our Hometown Heroes” program. This special initiative honors active duty and veteran service members, both living and deceased, with commemorative banners displayed throughout our community.

Each banner will proudly feature:
The serviceperson’s name
Branch of service
Photo
Banners will be prominently displayed along Washington Avenue and Main Street (from Corner Drug Store westward) from May 1 through the Fourth of July, celebrating the sacrifices and dedication of our local heroes. They will remain on display for two years.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, honorees must meet the following criteria:
Be a current or former resident of the Village of Endicott/Endwell or the Town of Union.
Either:
Be actively serving in the United States Armed Forces or National Guard, or
Be a military veteran (living or deceased) who served honorably in the United States Armed Forces or National Guard.
Priority Acceptance: Applicants from the Village of Endicott and Endwell will be prioritized. Remaining spots will be available to eligible service members from the Town of Union.
Sponsorship Information
Banners are available for sponsorship at $125 each, with opportunities for individuals, families, businesses, and organizations to contribute. If you would like to sponsor a banner but do not know a local serviceperson, we will happily pair you with an eligible honoree.
Limited Availability: Banners will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.
Placement: Banner locations will be determined by the Village.
Important Notes
The Village of Endicott and program sponsors are not responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to vandalism or acts of nature, such as high winds.
Loss or damage to uninstalled banners will be managed at the discretion of the Village and/or Town.
