STATE OF EMERGENCY: Command Center Update
The Village of Endicott is continuing in a State of Emergency due to potential flooding as a result of rainfall and snowmelt. Flash floods and some urban flooding are expected. The priority through the next 24-48 hours will shift from snow removal to flood mitigation by ensuring catch basins are clear so rain and snowmelt can drain. It is expected that rainfall over the next 24 hours will remove a large majority of the snow currently on the ground.
Residents and visitors are asked to limit travel. People who find it necessary to travel by vehicle in the village are reminded to avoid driving through areas with standing water. In colder temperatures it can be even more dangerous to be stranded in water. If you see standing water, turn around and find another route of travel. Do not travel around any barriers for any reason. As temperatures drop Friday morning, there is also the potential for black ice to form on roads and sidewalks.
The Village of Endicott Command Center remains operational at 757-5366. Village crews will continue working to address all situations. Please do not call the command center for snow removal. As with any emergency, please call 911.
